About Me

Vandana loves to read and write. While life in Delhi, Bangalore and London has contributed to her literary journey it is an overactive imagination and a passion to play with words that have been her biggest drivers. Her education is a curious mix of chemistry, an MBA and the Italian language. Having meandered through startups, translating books, content writing, and raising two boys, this short story collection is Vandana's first foray into fiction. Or perhaps her first brush with reality!

Reviews

A collection of short stories for every mood! This book revolves around human emotions and each story is significantly different from the other. If one talks of childhood innocence other taps into the psyche of a serial killer. It talks of lost love and familial love and what not. The writing is a mix of Ruskin Bond and Sadat Hasan Manto. I hope the author comes out with a novel soon. The writing is easy to follow and does not make reading unnecessarily complicated. If you’re looking for a quick yet moving read The Unforseen is for you. I liked most of the stories but I have 4 favourites - Innocence, Passion, Destiny and Hope! Highly recommended.

I got this book quite by chance actually and decided to take a break from the usual web series binging and go through the book. And at one go I read 4 of the stories only to return to the book later to finish reading the rest. Written in a breezy style, the stories are an easy read with a twist in the end, reminding you of Dahl and O Henry. While I have my personal favourites, all the stories are a good read. Would recommend this book for those who like short stories.

Unforeseen is a very interesting read that I enjoyed thoroughly. The stories have very unexpected turns and twists that keep the reader hooked till the end. The author gets deep into all human emotions like love, misery, passion etc. that are indicative of the author's attention to detail in her observation of life in general. The vivid descriptions make the stories come alive. It is an easy read and highly recommended!

‘Unforeseen’ is a wonderful read with a perfect blend of emotion in all the stories.I won’t lie when I say that I enjoyed each & every bit of it. In each of Vandana’s stories, she has managed to bring about such depth in the details that you feel you’re right there witnessing the story unfold before you... Definitely recommend such a good read.

The Unforeseen is a book of delicately woven stories many of which warm your heart but some break it into a million pieces. Most have a very unpredictable ending and makes you smile when you read that last line or para. I was in tears after reading one of these. If you pick it up in your book club, each would need a session on its own. Loved it.

A great collection of short stories that live up to the title. Each story introduces the central characters and soon you find yourself rooting for them. And just when you think you know where the story is tilting towards, it takes you by surprise. The writing is very endearing and slick. Highly recommended book.

Aptly titled Unforeseen, this book is filled with the unexpected. Each story is from a different genre and is remarkably well written. The plots move smoothly through the twists and turns, teasing you to guess what lies ahead and more often than not revealing your hunch was wrong. A quick read. Highly recommend it.
